Who picks up: Recology San Francisco (Recology Sunset Scavenger / Recology Golden Gate), operating under an exclusive refuse-collection franchise with the City and County of San Francisco.

All three carts - blue recycling, green compost, black landfill - are collected once a week on the same day; there is no alternating recycling week. San Francisco's Mandatory Recycling and Composting Ordinance requires residents to sort waste into the correct cart, and extra recyclables may be set out in paper bags or boxes next to the blue cart.
