Speed enforcement cameras have led to a significant reduction in speeding, with 20,000 fewer speeders per day. The cameras have been in operation this year, resulting in over 190,000 fines being handed out to drivers.

The majority of these citations, over half, were sent to vehicle owners with addresses outside the city where the cameras are located.

Further information on the speed enforcement cameras and their impact is available from the Oakland Department of Transportation, which reported the findings.
